The XL Express fleet comprises 100 trailers, 30-40 prime movers and between 350-400 delivery vehicles with many depots located nationally. The company is upgrading their fleets PDA inventory which the drivers rely on for realtime information on deliveries as well as providing communications back-to-base on events and issues relating to the deliveries.

XL Express

Scope

  • Android OS
  • Highly specialised PDA Technology
  • API Architecture

Services

  • UI/UX Design
  • Engineering
  • DevOps

The Challenge

The current PDA technology has been in service for over a decade, technology has evolved rapidly and XL Express required an agency to augment with their current inhouse team to deliver the operating system. As the device is highly specialised for the logistics industry we had to rapidly acquaint ourselves with the device, and the specific requirements of the Android Package Kit (APK). The client requested new features in addition- such as simple authentication methods which were not currently in use.

The Solution

We worked closely with the XL Express project team to develop the scope and assign deliverables to each party. BZ were required to provide the API architecture requirements with XL Express building the API using inhouse resources- largely due to their familiarity with their own software.

BZ completed to OS build and facilitating all testing prior to delivery to the client for acceptance testing.

Lets make something new.
